Author Biographies           

Gila Kurtz, Ph.D., is the director of Bar-e-Learn Center at Bar Ilan University, Israel. The center is responsible for developing and assimilating new e-Learning methods by incorporating state-of-the-art technologies into the on-campus courses. Dr. Kurtz is an Adjunct Associate Professor at the University of Maryland University College (UMUC) Graduate School in the online Master of Distance Education which is designed to train the future managers of the distance education enterprise in education, government, military, business and the non-profit sectors. Michael F. Beaudoin, Ed.D., is Professor of Education at the University of New England (UNE) in Maine, where he previously served as founding dean of a college offering innovative graduate, continuing and distance education programs for adult learners.  At UNE and other institutions, he has designed, directed and taught in distance education programs utilizing varied delivery systems.  He is actively engaged in research, writing and conference presentations on topics related to distance education, and is the author of approximately 75 publications and presentations. He also frequently serves as an evaluator, reader and consultant in the field, and is on the Editorial Board of two distance education journals, as well as books review editor for the American Journal of Distance Education.   He is the author of a new book “Critical Issues in Distance Education Leadership” (Oldenburg University Press, 2004).  He can be reached at: mbeaudoin@une.edu
