Improving the Teaching of Statistics Online: A Multi-faceted Approach Author Biography Brian W. Sloboda, Ph.D., teaches online and face-to-face courses in economics and statistics at the University of Phoenix and the University of Maryland University College. Brian earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Economics from Rowan University in New Jersey and received his Master’s and Doctoral Degrees in Economics from Southern Illinois University at Carbondale. Brian specializes in labor economics and microeconomic theory and has research interests in labor economics, performance measurement, and applied time series. Brian has published articles in the Journal of Economics, Advances in Econometrics, Tourism Economics, Journal of Transportation and Statistics, Pennsylvania Economic Review, International Journal of Transport Economics and the Virginia Economic Journal. In addition to teaching courses in statistics and economics at the University of Phoenix, Maryland Campus and the Online Campus, Brian is a mathematical statistician/economist at the U.S. Department of Transportation, Bureau of Transportation Statistics (BTS) in Washington D.C.
