Online Education in the Visual and Performing Arts: Strategies for Increasing Learning and Reducing Costs Author Biographies A. James Wohlpart, Ph.D., is Associate Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences at Florida Gulf Coast University. He has been involved in course assessment and redesign for the last several years in his former role as Chair of the Division of Humanities and Arts, and was the lead principal investigator on a PEW Grant in Course Redesign. He has spoken at national and international conferences on the redesign of online courses. Dr. Wohlpart may be reached at wohlpart@fgcu.edu. Craig Rademacher, Ph.D., is Coordinator of Academic Programs in Instructional Technology at Florida Gulf Coast University. He has served in that capacity for five years. Dr. Rademacher was the technology coordinator and site designer on the PEW Grant in Course Redesign. He continues to support the day-to-day technology needs of the Understanding the Visual and Performing Arts course at Florida Gulf Coast University. Scott Karakas, PhD., is Assistant Professor of Art History at Florida Gulf Coast University. Blending old and new, he teaches courses in ancient and medieval art, while also serving as instructor for the Humanities 2510 online course. He has spoken at national conferences and panels on the integration of new technology in the classroom, and currently serves as Art Program Leader within FGCU's Department of Visual and Performing Arts. Lisa Courcier is Course Coordinator for HUM 2510: Understanding the Visual and Performing Arts at Florida Gulf Coast University. A member of the PEW Grant in Course Redesign team, she has been involved with the design and redesign of HUM 2510 since its inception in 1999. Charles Lindsey, Ph.D., is Associate Professor of Mathematics at Florida Gulf Coast University. He has been an Associate Dean in the College of Arts and Sciences and currently teaches a range of Mathematics courses.
