Review Process

All submissions are evaluated by a double-anonymous, peer-review process. Prior to dissemination to the reviewers, the Editor will conduct a preliminary appraisal for content, substance, and appropriateness to the journal. If the manuscript is clearly inappropriate, the author will be informed and the manuscript returned. Appropriate manuscripts will be sent to two reviewers for anonymous evaluation. Although there is an attempt to match manuscripts and reviewers according to content, interests, and topical relevance, the broad focus of the journal dictates that papers be written for applicability to a wide audience.

Review Outcomes

Utilizing feedback from the peer review process, the Editor will make a final publication decision. The review process will take approximately 3-4 months. Decisions categories include:

  • Reject - Rejected manuscripts will not be published and authors will not have the opportunity to resubmit a revised version of the manuscript to JIR.
  • Revise and Resubmit – Manuscripts receiving a revise-and-resubmit decision have value, but need significant revisions prior to receiving additional consideration for publication.
  • Accept Pending Revisions - Manuscripts receiving an accept-pending-revisions decision will be published in JEO under the condition that minor modifications are made. Revisions will be reviewed by an editor to ensure necessary updates are made prior to publication.
  • Accept - Accepted manuscripts will be published in the current form with no further modifications required.

Identifying Information

To facilitate the masked portion of the manuscript review process, the author’s name and other identifying information should NOT appear anywhere on the manuscript (including the title page); the manuscript should be written in a generalized fashion that does not directly divulge authorship or institutional affiliation.

Correspondence

All correspondence concerning manuscripts should be directed to the Editor of JEO. The Editor will direct all correspondence to the lead author; the lead author is responsible for sharing communications with other authors. Beyond communication concerning the review, manuscripts accepted for publication may require additional correspondence to complete copyediting and typesetting.

Statement of Peer Review Policies

The Journal of Educators Online (JEO) is committed to a fair, rigorous, and transparent peer review process. Our policy ensures that all manuscripts are evaluated based on intellectual content without regard to the authors' race, gender, sexual orientation, religious belief, ethnic origin, citizenship, or political philosophy. The process is double-blind, meaning that both the reviewers and the authors are anonymized to promote impartiality. Reviewers are selected for their expertise and are expected to provide constructive feedback within a specified timeframe, maintaining confidentiality and objectivity throughout. The JEO aims to contribute to the scholarly community by adhering to these practices, ensuring the integrity and quality of the research we publish.
