Abstract

Academic writing plays a crucial role in equipping students not only with the ability to write for academic purposes, but also with skills relevant to their future careers. These skills do not stand alone but are strengthened by various other skills. Among these skills, digital literacy and collaboration skills are very supportive of students’ success in academic writing. This study aims to analyze the effect of digital literacy and collaboration skills on students’ academic writing skills through a quantitative approach with a causal associative research design. This study involved 48 students from the Indonesian Language Education Study Program at Padang State University, who were selected using purposive sampling. Data were collected through performance tests and observation sheets, which were then evaluated using a validated rubric. The analysis was carried out using SPSS with the Multiple Regression method. The results showed a significant positive relationship between digital literacy, collaboration skills, and students’ academic writing skills. These results confirm that increasing digital literacy and collaboration can synergistically improve the quality of academic writing. The implications of this study emphasize the importance of integrating digital literacy and collaboration skills in the learning process, which can be done by implementing learning models or methods that support these skills to strengthen students’ academic writing competencies.
