Abstract
Audience Response Systems (ARS) have been a regular feature in classroom teaching for many years. This quantitative study investigates lecturers' motivations for using ARS and their perceptions of how students value and respond to these tools. Data were collected via an online questionnaire distributed to lecturers in higher education. Results indicated that lecturers perceive ARS as significantly beneficial for student engagement, discussion facilitation, and content retention, yet remain skeptical regarding student perceptions of ARS usefulness. The study identifies a potential disconnect between lecturer motivations and perceived student valuation of ARS, suggesting the need for better alignment and communication regarding technology use in teaching.
