Abstract
This study uses bibliometric methods and visualization tools to analyze trends in online teaching platforms, drawing on data from the CNKI (China National Knowledge Infrastructure) database (up to 18 August 2024) and WOS (Web of Science) database (1 January 2004 to 18 August 2024). A total of 464 Chinese and 345 English articles were analyzed. Research in WOS shows an upward trend, while CNKI reflects a fluctuating downward trend since 2020. Since 2021, English-language publications have outpaced Chinese-language ones. The studies reviewed span 16 countries, covering fields like mathematics, education, psychology, and computer science. Key contributors include Li Bin (CNKI) and Jeffrey P. Carpenter (WOS). Chinese research focuses on online teaching modes, methods, and content, while international studies emphasize technological advancements and computer applications. The field has seen broad multidisciplinary engagement, with key trends in platform development, algorithm optimization, and practical applications in online learning. The research also highlights a growing trend toward cross-disciplinary collaboration.
