Abstract

This theoretical paper explores the literature on stealth learning and Socratic seminar methodologies within game-based learning (GBL) environments to enrich educational theory on GBL and demonstrate the utility of a GBL framework for enhancing students’ engagement and critical thinking and helping them carry out real-time assessments. This theoretical article offers insights into how technology-enhanced learning and critical inquiry can be effectively integrated to support student engagement and achievement. I present practical insights for implementing GBL in the classroom and embedding Socratic discussions and integrating stealth learning within GBL environments to enhance student engagement, critical thinking, and real-time assessment. The challenges to this approach are scalability, the need for specialized training for educators, and the technological infrastructure required for it.
